Travertine

Tassili Vein

A vein-cut travertine with continuous horizontal strata and open cavities.

The material

Cut against the bedding, Tassili Vein produces the long horizontal lines travertine is specified for — a linear, architectural surface that reads as rhythm rather than pattern. Cut across, the same block gives cloudier, more circular figuring. The cavities are the material: filled, the surface becomes uniform and takes traffic; unfilled, it keeps the tactility and the shadow but restricts where it can be used. Decide filled or unfilled early, because it changes the finish, the maintenance and the price.
